Many of our communities in Alberta offer designated supportive living (Alberta Health funded) suites for assisted living and memory care residents who have been assessed by Alberta Health Services for Supportive Living 4 (SL4) or Supportive Living 4 – Dementia (SL4D) care services. These funded suites may be referred to as “designated supportive living” (DSL) suites.

Providing personal care and professional medical support 24/7, our Assisted Living communities are funded by health regions to accommodate residents based on their assessed needs. This includes three meals a day, recreation, housekeeping, linen laundry, and personal care. Emphasizing maximum independence and dignity, these cottages often feature small kitchenettes for light meals.
Tailored for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease, our Memory Care communities offer the same services as Assisted Living but with a specialized focus on the unique needs of those living with memory-related challenges. Our dedicated care partners prioritize meeting residents where they are at the moment, providing 24/7 calm reassurance and guidance.
Hospice care is a specialized form of healthcare that focuses on providing support and comfort to individuals facing a life-limiting illness, especially during the final stages of their life. The primary goal of hospice care is to enhance the quality of life for patients and their families, emphasizing pain and symptom management, emotional support, and assistance with practical aspects of daily living. Our dedicated hospice communities have a Care Partner Team, which may include physicians and nurses who address the unique physical and emotional needs of seniors and their loved ones. Hospice care aims to ensure a dignified and peaceful end-of-life experience, focusing on enhancing comfort and maintaining the individual’s sense of autonomy and control.
At Connecting Care seniors who need a temporary stay in our Assisted Living communities can experience respite and support as they recover from an illness, hospital stay, or if their primary caregivers require temporary relief from the ongoing care. It offers a chance for primary caregivers to rest, recharge, and attend to personal or other responsibilities. The duration of respite care can vary, ranging from a few hours to several days, depending on the needs and preferences of the caregiver and the care recipient. This service plays a crucial role in supporting caregivers, preventing burnout, and ensuring the overall well-being of both the caregiver and the person receiving care.
